AXIS OF MEDIEVAL

Where does truth end and myth begin? Should our own ignorance be a concern to us? Is it our duty (a virtue) to raise our antennae and leave empiricism only when there is nothing left to take in? Is technology the only real difference between the past and the present? Is the only thing that comes out of the green man's mouth what we put in?

This piece was painted on gessoed hardboard. More so than some of my other more illustrative faerie depictions, this piece is to be considered both an object (or icon) and an image. (Also see the green man plates section). The texture of brush strokes on the board can intentionally still be seen through the image. Parts of the painting are overtly symbolic rather than purely representational. Proper perspective is not necessarily adhered to.
